Responding to His call
In two days, thirteen hours, and five minutes from now I will be heading to Pretoria, South Africa for three months on a mission trip. I will be going through a Christian organization called Experience Mission. While everyone around me is packing and heading a few hours from their home to a new school or returning for another year at college, I'm packing for South Africa. I am so ready, but not fully prepared. But can you really fully prepare yourself for something like this?
As my last couple Amazon orders start to show up on my doorstep and my pack begins to no longer fit a single thing, it starts to hit me. The next three months of my life will be nothing like I've ever experienced in the twenty years of my life. I will be fully devoted to Christ, responding to His call to be across the world from everything that I've come to know and love. But I am so ready for that challenge.
When talking to people about this trip many of them have asked me if I'm nervous or scared because of the unknown that I will be facing for the next three months. The only response I can give is my favorite verse: Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid, do not be discouraged; For the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go. Joshua 1:9. I know that he would never put something in front of me that I won't be able to handle or accomplish. This is where I'm meant to be.
I plan on making a weekly update on this blog for anyone who wants to keep up and hear about what's going on while I'm in South Africa. Please continue to keep my fellow travelers and I in your prayers as we get ready to embark on this journey of a lifetime!
