A week later and we finally made it to South Africa!
This past week has been pretty crazy with training and two days of travel. Three Immersion teams (South Africa, Costa Rica, and the UK) all met in Fort Wayne, Indiana for training and just getting to know each other. All of the teams combined are made up of 25 girls and 2 boys, so in your free time please pray for the boys sanity. My team is made up of 10 people total and I already love them all so much. We are all so different but also so alike in our thirst to know our Creator better and to answer His calling.
Friday morning we left Indiana, where we then made our first stop in Toronto. From Toronto we flew to London. We had a full 12 hour lay-over in London so of course we decided to take advantage of that and explore the beautiful city, and to also stretch our legs out after sitting on planes for 10 hours. After that we got on another plane for 10 long hours. 48 hours later and only 2 hours of sleep, we're finally in South Africa!
This week we will all be staying in Pretoria with a host family where we will be learning more specifically about the culture and learning some Afrikaans, while getting over some serious jet-lag.
I can't even begin to put into words how thankful I am for everyone back home and all of their support and prayers. Please continue to be praying for my team and I as we begin to fully Immerse ourselves in the African culture and begin to miss our family's back home.
